Staying same place. Everywhere will be nuts NYE. Lots of great beer bars in Philly. Near the venue the Bainbridge Barrel House is about 3 or 4 blocks from TLA. http://www.phillytapfinder.com/bar/bainbridge-st-barrel-house/

There are not too many hostels in Havana..the best/easier thing to do is to rent rooms in a "posada", which is a family house where they rent rooms...it is cheaper than a hotel and also a good way to experience local lifestyle. Although, this depends of your budget/travel style...you can also find hotels/resorts...better if you're into party mood.
