so there are a zillion gamachim. i have been to basically all of them. Where you want to go all depends on what style you are looking for and how much you want to spend. i was going for a super vintage, 1950's, golden-age-of-hollywood look, but if you tell me what you are going for, i will tell you where to go. Here are a list of the places I liked the best based on rental prices: 1 – Christian friends of Israel – a lot of people have some trouble with this place because its not a jewish gamach, but they are super sweet Zionists who just want to help jews live here and get married. And they are the cheapest dress rental. You give them 600 shekels to rent a dress (which they also have organized nicer and cleaner than any other place I went). Then when you give them back the dress, they give you your money back. All in all, the only thing you actually pay for is about 100 shekels for cleaning (which you have to pay for everywhere). Basically, its free. They also have other bridal party dresses and suits. Their number is 02-538-0928. Tell patricia I sent you. 2 – the gamach in efrat – Bruria Rabinovitch is a lovely woman who runs a fabulous gamach in efrat. Its not the easiest place to get to, but it was totally worth it for me. I found my dress there. they have lots of beautiful dresses, in lots of styles. And they rent you everything a bride needs – dresses, shoes, veil, petticoats, jewelry, tiaras, belts, accessories – for 500 sheckels. You do have to pay a 100 shekel cleaning fee, when you return your dress, but the stuff there is lovely, and its ½ the price of most other gamachs. Call Bruria at 050-683-9493. 3 – Racheli’s gamach (I think it might be called shalshelet?), off of rehov shatz, downtown Jerusalem. She has an enormous collection of different dresses, in different styles, it’s a little bit chaotic there, but lots of people I know found their dresses there. its about 1000 (that includes a cleaning fee, I believe) to rent a dress from there, but she is really kind and is open to negotiations about prices. Call her at 054-647-2611 4 - trumpledor vintage clothing – Shira is amazing, kind and super sweet and has a huge collection of amazing vintage and vintage style dresses, for very good prices. She is in nachlaot, and will set up an appointment with you. Call her and tell her I sent you - 052-880-3454 5- there are a bunch of heredi gamachim on har nof and mea sharim that are super cheap, but really really really shtark. I didn’t like anything that any of them had enough to even save their numbers.
