I used the place in Hancock Center last year. I think it was $90 and they fixed my lock button (which was working about 50% of the time) for free. It took about 3 hours. It was my first time to use anybody other than Apple, so no clue if that's normal or not, but it seemed to be a decent experience to me.

I went to Cell Repair Austin on south Lamar because they seemed to have good Yelp reviews. They charged me $130 to replace a 4S front screen and I regret not taking it to the Apple store instead. The cheap replacement glass they used is beginning to delaminate in one of the corners and there are a few small dead spots on the screen that don't respond to touch.

www.itechelectronics.net Place is on Burnet Rd at Steck. I had my 4S screen replaced there 2 weeks ago. 75 bucks all in, and i was out the door in an hour. I've also had them work on my 3S because the headphone jack needed to be replaced. It will void your warranty, but my warranty was up anyway.

If he's covered under the Apple warranty, avoid the repair shops; a third party repair will void the warranty. Depending on the model, you can get it fixed at Apple for $100-200, and you'll also get a 90 day warranty on it if it didn't have one to begin.

I just bought an iphone for my mom and the lock button is messed up :( I didn't notice it, but I got it for $30 from my brother-in-law. I'm going to try to fix it myself using the [iFixit](www.ifixit.com) tutorials. The parts are cheap and it'll give me a project to do, since I like this kind of stuff. If he doesn't have phone insurance, honestly he may be better off going to Apple if he wants it done right or through his cell phone career's local service department, but it will be pricey. Just call around, all the local repair shops/guys use the same cheap chinese parts and it isn't rocket science to replace the components. If he can get it repaired for under $100, I'd be surprised.

I used Texas Mac Repair on North Lamar. It was $99 to replace the front glass.

I went some small place at anderson mill and 183 and they fixed the front and back panels which were both cracked for 100.

Both I & a friend have used All Wireless Repair on burnet/183, was very pleased with the service, speed, and price (around $100). I picked it up the same day and they did a great job, everything works & looks as good as new.

Whatever you do.. Do not go on Craigslist unless you find an established store. I ended up paying twice when I contacted someone on Craigslist and didn't fix properly. Pay 80,90

There is always the Apple store in the Kenwood mall, they aren't too cheap I'm sure but I know they are fast. I've had good luck with u-break-i-fix on my Android phones, there are a few on the east side of the city.

It’s because Samsung holds their parts manufacturing hostage and they rape on prices. It would be different if the part was actually worth the money but they are not.

Hey Tami, definitely return the battery and they were also right above when they said amazon.com if you need another one...dirt cheap! Other than that you can try Mailboxes Etc in Carlise near the Wells Fargo and Old Hess Station, he fixes just about everything and you can even sell him some of your old College books to help with the cost. Then there is the Apple Store but they will more than likely be outrageous. Just putting my 2 cents in and I will call you as soon as I get the time...love ya sis!!!!

Cellcheck at 1200 McPhillips is a decent place. I've gone there for various issues. I don't know if they fix Lumias but it's still worth checking.

Yeah never use cellular walk in. I brought in my old Nexus 5 to have the power button replaced as it stopped working. Got it back with he same issue and a crushed in sim card slot. Returned and was told after another 4 days to be told it had water damage all of a sudden. Never even been anywhere near water.

Depending on what Lumia you have, it might not even be worth it to replace the screen. I replaced the screen on two of my friends' Lumias (900 and a 920) and it ended up costing close to $80 for parts. Ifixdirect.com has full front/rear glass assemblies for $49.99 for the 4S and also have custom color kits so you can get whatever color glass for the back/ front glass around the screen and home button for around $60

[iCracked](https://www.icracked.com) has front and back replacement kits, tools to do the job and tutorial videos that are pretty easy to follow. I personally have not used them, but have several high school age employees who run little side businesses in their school replacing front and back glass and they all swear by iCracked.

Bite the bullet and go to the Apple store. 3 rd party places usually put in aftermarket replacement displays that are less quality, break easier, and might brick your phone after a few months use. Just schedule an appointment and it takes 90 minutes to install.

I used to use ebay and I got to know one supplier for iphone 4/iphone 4s screens. We grew to trust each other. I just used the cheapest, most rated guy in the USA for the specific part, buy it now only. Alibaba can bring you some very inexpensive screens, make sure they are "gold suppliers" That would require many emails though and I feel it wouldn't be the Just in Time system you are probably looking for. Also, if I had a repair that couldn't wait 2-3 days, I found a local smartphone repair shop that would sell me screens straight up for a $5-$10 surge charge. Generally, highly rated independently owned shops will sometimes sell your the parts. I would recommend becoming one of those shops so you can start being the top dealer for your community. Then talk to the regulars and ask them, "If I can get you more work, would you you like that?" Use the Toyota supply chain methodology, have one of every commonly used part and then that part is used, order a replacement for it. Maybe keep a Bad ESN phone around to harness organs. Source: I fixed iPhones at one of the largest universities in the US before it really became large, got me though college, ran it completely out of home :) I only regret not going after becoming the University's chosen iPhone repair place then start hiring trusted college students.
