Best foreign and maybe overall restaurant I have come across recently is Very Siam in OCAT (back and across street from OCT Loft) which is behind Konka Group, and about 15 min walk from Qiaochengdong metro station

The drinks at Tavern are amazing. I had a Strawberry Mojito there that was amazeballs...and I HATE mojitos! For food, I would have to say George and Dragon. Their breakfast is the best thing outside of Hong Kong (In Hong Kong, go to the Frying Pan at Mid Level Escalators)

Got to agree, HH Gourmet is pretty damn awful, and crazy expensive.

Matthew A Klein, sorry, but I got to remove HH Gourmet from the list. Too many complaints.

I had a fantastic hamburger at Frankie's American Bar and Grille in Futian a couple of weeks ago. I know they've just released a new menu so that could be worth following up if you're prepared to trek for a good feed and high quality beverages. http://frankies-bar.com/

I just discovered a great restaurant called Tasty. It is a steak restaurant, and western style for sure. I can't believe it is so close to where I live and work for 1 1/2 years, and I never eat there. There may be several, but the one I went to is in the World Financial Center in Luohu.I ordered from the Fixed menu, and for 150 yuan, I had Mushroom Soup, A salad with Chicken, Bread with Cheese sauce, a special drink, and a very good steak. Included was desert, and I ordered Tiramisu. It is on Shennan Lu, south side, same building where the Starbucks is. Shennan Lu where it runs under the train tracks. It is across the street from my new office, at 4002 Shennan East Road.

Paulaner Brauhaus in Seaworld is not bad, it serves german food and (obvisouly) beers. Prices are a bit expensive but servings are big. Tip for this restaurant: Dianping app is selling discount coupon for lunch: 100RMB coupon is sold for 60RMB (40% off), can be used weekdays and weekends.

Lok Ma Chou boarder is usually less busy, then stay on the blue line to Shatin. The station is under the mall, there is a new and old section to the mall, old section has cheaper stuff. There is a welcome mart etc for groceries.
