San Marino Veterinary Clinic (Dr Dean Watanabe and Dr Jeff Sakamoto). Extraordinary veterinarians -- I've had horrible experiences with other vets and these guys had to earn my trust, but they have done so a dozen times over. Saved my desperately ill cat from another vet's negligence many years ago, bought him several more good, happy years. More knowledgeable than most people doctors. (They aren't always accepting new patients, unfortunately. But worth the call.)

I KNEW I could count on you guys! I read and reread the previous posts on Vets so I'm not asking just to take up your time. I have to look for a new Vet and Albert is my baby & means everything to me. He's getting older so I'm looking for special care. BestFriends Animal Hospital (it's a regular vet) on Foothill in Monrovia. They just saved my dog's life! Their prices are the best I've found and they are absolutely great!

Pasadena Pets on Foothill is terrific! The vets are very kind and knowledgeable, and their prices are reasonable.

I can also recommend Sierra Madre Animal hospital. We have two dogs each with special needs that he's been extremely helpful with. I've also been to Rose City down on Foothill in Pasadena and I liked them pretty well too. They have quite a facility down there.

I too am a fan of Dr. Cailleteau at Sierra Madre Animal Hospital. I think he gives good advice and options. I haven't tried a lot of vets, but he's been the least expensive of the few. And I love the fact that I can walk my dogs to the doctor, which calms them down and keeps the hair outta my car!.

We love Dr. Dawson at Vanderhoof Vet Hospital, she is so compassionate and if cost is an issue will discuss treatment options. Dr Vanderhoof is good too, but I don't recommend the other vet there.

Also, I highly recommend you NOT use Dr. Hardy at Best Friends Pet Hospital in Monrovia. WORST experience ever!

I'm not sure if they are taking new patients right now, but I go to San Marino Veterinary Clinic (Dr Watanabe and Dr Sakamoto) on Huntington. They are really phenomenal vets, though not particularly cost-sensitive. They are very sensitive to the personality of your individual pet ... whether he or she tolerates a lot of heroic measures or not ... and they are always up on the newest meds and treatments (including herbal stuff), what really works and what doesn't. After my older cat was nearly killed by another vet's negligence, they brought him back to health and gave him five more years of happy, comfortable life. (Note that they only take cash or check and are open M-F but they close at noon on Weds.)

The new vet at Sierra Madre Veterinarian is beyond awesome! Can't say enough. We have a bulldog and finding a vet to treat them is hard. Dr. Cattilieau (sp?) is fabulous!

I concur about dr. Cailleteau at Sierra Madre animal hospital. He is really sweet. A bit pricey, but close by, which is important with an older pet. Www.sierramadreanimalhospital.com

I disagree with Diane Fischer Chasse. I've gone to Best Friends and we've only had good experiences there. previously, we went to a very high end vet in Mission Viejo (over $500 a cat for just a physical) and have found a similar level of care there.

Animal Am Emergency Clinic 2121 E Foothill Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107 They’re open 24 hours. Not sure how much they charge for emergencies tho, my family goes for regular scheduled appointment, which are reasonable.

I also use Foothill Veterinary Hospital. Love it and they take walk-ins.

Arcadia Animal Hospital takes walk-ins on Saturday.

We use Animal Medical Hospital on Foothill. They do charge a lot but open 24 hrs. And they saved our dog’s life.

HANDS DOWN, Hastings ranch vet on the corner of Michillinda and SM Blvd. Dr.C is the best! If you dont need it, he won't push it which is why we keep going back with our 2 dogs.

We love Dr Bronwyn Dawson, Vanderhoof is good also (same office in Altadena) have also been happy with Arcadia Small Animal when we go on Saturday for a walk-in visit.

I also recommend San Marino Veterinary Clinic if they are currently accepting new patients (they close the books from time to time). I love Dr Watanabe and Dr Sakamoto, I will not let anyone else near my cats. Just be warned that they only accept cash or check, no cards.

We went to SM animal hospital and saw Dr Cailleteau, we were spectacularly unimpressed! VCR Pasadena were amazing in comparison.

One of my dogs died yesterday during emergency surgery at the Pasadena emergency clinic. They faxed the records over to Dr. Walter Cailleteau in Sierra Madre and he just called me 'cause he knew I was probably second guessing myself. Very cool and caring doctor to do that.

Arcadia Small Animal Hospital on Santa Anita took very good care of me and my dogs - going to take my new pups there too.

Love Dr. Cailleteau! He doesn't try and boost your bill. Very reasonable.

We love Pasadena Pets on Foothill - both vets are fantastic. I had a very cranky old dog, and they won his heart - which is saying a lot! Our other (also fairly old) dog had surgery there, and they took great care of her. She's still prancing around town.

I like West Foothill Veterinary Hospital, they're in Glendora. A little bit of a drive but I like them. It's a father/son clinic. I used to go to Foothill Veterinary Hospital in Pasadena but I've had a couple bad experiences there and have not been happy with them. I would only trust them with the basics.

Temple City Community Companion Animal Hospital. Love them and they're reasonably priced...for everything.

It's a trek, but DTLA vets is the best. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
