where do you live, that is often times even more important than where you work. One is probably 10 miles north of the spectrum; rush hour traffic that could always be an issue. As far as the gym itself, Giva is really awesome; I've known him for probably 7-8 years. I have a few friends who train there and love it. I've dropped in multiple times and it's always been fantastic. You have GB America HQ on Sand Canyon like 3 miles from the spectrum. I've been before but that was when Kayron, Octavio and some of the heavy hitters were still there; I cannot speak on the atmosphere any longer. Personally I'm at AOJ in Costa Mesa... tons of classes and amazing instruction and facilities.

Plenty of options in the Irvine area, but you'll have to vet schedules and location relative to your job. I saw your other thread asking how people make it work. I live in south OC but work in Irvine, so I found a gym near my office that had a lunch-time class. Sometimes I have meetings that conflict and I have to go late or skip it entirely, but it works most of the time. Considering you live in LB you're going to be heading north after work, the 405 is going to be a mess. If you stick to the schools by the Spectrum, I think you'll be more consistent since you can take local roads to get to class. If you choose stuff in central Irvine on your way home, you're gonna have a bad time. **Down by the Spectrum you've got:** * GB HQ on Sand Canyon 10min north * Grappler's Studio 10 min south on the 5 * Subfighter MMA - around the corner from Grappler's Studio * Russ Miura's Subfighter BJJ (not affiliated with Subfighter MMA, though he was until he setup his own school) - also around the corner * Carlson Gracie JJ on Moulton - around the corner **In "downtown" Irvine by Jamboree:** * One JJ in Sky Park Circle * Phenom BJJ - also in Sky Park Circle * Clark Gracie JJ on Main St between Von Karman and Jamboree * Team Oyama near The District * OC Kickboxing & MMA by JWA I have experience at Subfighter MMA and Phenom. Both are laid back places to train with great people and prices are very, very reasonable.

I train at OCK MMA, we have a great program under Master Cleber Luciano our coach is great, pace is a bit slow but a family environment, so if you're looking for a fast paced competition training mat, its probably not ours, but if you're looking for a laid back detail oriented family environment, feel free to drop by and check it out we also offer a lot of other arts just in case you want to change it up sometimes, feel free to PM me if you want more info, we have 5 BJJ classes a week at times that should suit you :)

Since you said you live in Long Beach please feel free to check out The Jiu Jitsu League. The gym is ran by Kevin Howell and is very laid back compared to other traditional BJJ gyms. I'm not sure how far away this is to your house but it's an awesome place to train at. http://www.thejiujitsuleague.com/schedule/
