The Solana Hotel at Melleiah is lovely and not too pricey. On the main bus route. Has it's own restaurant and others close by. Has a small rooftop pool and an indoor one too. Not too huge. Very friendly staff and nice communial bar area that serves teas and coffees too.

Can I recommend Calypso Hotel in Marsalforn, on Gozo - my mother was a solo traveller in her first year as a widow at the age of 77, but an experienced traveller and was extremely well looked after - perfectly located by the sea, inside and roof top restaurants and restaurants all long the bay within a short walking distance from the hotel. It's the most touristy part of Gozo in my view - but it is perfect for solo travellers. We booked for her through Mercury. We love Gozo and have been visiting for years and indeed linked up with my Mum the second week of her holiday.
Is there a cafe del mar in Sliema, I've been told it's on a smaller scale than the Bugibba one?
Susan N. replied:
You have to be careful with this one Gina. Medasia on The Strand and is a restaurant, but Medasia Playa is up towards Tigne Point, has a couple of pools and attracts a very similar clientele to Cafe Del Mar. I understand that the food at Medasia Playa is outstanding. My son's girlfriend went to a Hen Party there at the beginning of August, and she's had to impress.

Hi Lucile, sorry to hear about your problems with your laptop. As for attard and birkirkara I think it is very hard to find an Internet cafe there. But, in st. Julian's, there is the 24/7 Internet cafe (the name is ghal kafe - tropicana and it is in the very heart of Paceville), if you know the restaurant with big waterfalls, this is it but from the other side. As for sliema, there is also a 24/7 Internet cafe (although I found it closed a couple of times) ... This one is exactly in front of the NEXT clothes shop, on tower road (the cafe is actually underground and to go there u have to go down on one of its two stairs - it is safe & usually run by an Indian girl). Hope you will fix your laptop soon ... Maybe you can talk to our friend Jesmar cannao, who is a wizard when it comes to these things:)) Good night, Will & the feel@home team:))

Hi everyone !
What's the best Indian restaurant you've ever tried in Malta?
Thx in advance :-) x
Massimo P. replied:
I second Shiva's, I think it's the best I ever tried so far, went there several times and the food was never disappointing. Also Garam Masalaa in Msida was not bad but I only tried it once (and the place is not so nice, alas). Sharma in Mdina has a unique atmosphere and it's great in summer when you can stay on the roof, but the Indian food was so and so. Emperor of India is ok, and has a very good service, but the food is nothing special in my opinion. I still have to try Suruchi, some told me it's crap and others told me it's one of the best (and I know it changed management so that's why some were not impressed in the past).
