my 18 lb maine coon also refuses to groom himself I amm only allowed to brush a little bit or he bites so twice a year he goes to our very trusted vet and gets a sedated lion shave he comes back so pretty and loves to be petted if we dont have him shaved his back end gets all nasty and matted but you have to trust your vet I guess Avalon Animal Hospital in Franklin NH they are a great bunch of ladies
