Cesar Milan book and basically the trainer trains the human not the dogs it's a lot of work but worth it

Scott Mara is amazing! He does private training as well as classes, but they fill up quick. One tip i have for you is a penny can. Fill a plastic bottle with a handful of coins and any time you see them doing the bad behavior you get loud and give a very firm NO and shake the can at them. Over time this will help end the behavior. This worked well for us with some barking and chewing problems. Good luck.

Yikes, putting their nose isn't a good method of punishment but I understand your frustration. Sounds like they have a lot of energy to burn off. Doggy day care, at least an hour of playing and frequent walks are where I'd start. Sandy Mathiesen is a trainer. Kyla Long owns tails n trails doggy day care in south lake Tahoe. Try them and what I mentioned.

Stuffed Kongs when you are gone or in the crate helps some. If you treat them every time you leave they are happy to see you go. We have a dog door so he can go outside if he gets bored. Our pointer would empty the kitchen cupboards and was also a mountain goat. We had to learn not to leave food for a minute.They also sell cheap little alarms at the pet store that you can put on the couch. Mine won't go on the couch if it is activated. He hates the sound. Bass Pro shop online has Hyper Pet Chewz toys that the dogs love but can't take apart. My lab has had his for 5 months. If you dip them in beef broth it keeps them occupied.

Hi Christyna. I am a certified professional dog trainer (see CCPDT.org) and offer classes near the Y and also personal sessions in your home. I focus on teaching the dog what TO DO, not what NOT to do. I don't use physical or emotional intimidation (including penny cans or "NO") but use rewards and consequences. It is a kind and effective approach and will not only address behavior issues but increase your communication with your dog(s). 530.318.7696
