Ocean Crest Motel in Oak Island. 10-15 minutes from Southport. Best and basically only oceanfront motel around. But the staff there is awesome! The rooms are great and very affordable! We love it there. We go every year, and spend at least one day in Southport.

Ocean Crest is our favorite for a 2-3 day stay. If going for a week or two we rent a cottage. But Ocean Crest is great. On the older side but very clean. They have been redoing the rooms the last two times we staye there. If you like to climb stairs get a room on the second level (which is actually the 3 rd level as there are no rooms on the 1 st) Sadly there is no elevator. Great location to use the beach and get to all the restaurants and shopping.
