Should we assume your husband will be working on Oak Island? If so, you may want to live on the island, because traffic can be slow at certain times leaving the mainland to return to the island. And if you have children, that commute on/off the island should be considered, too. We had good success with Southport Realty. You can also subscribe online to the local newspaper, The State Port Pilot, to view the classifieds.

Boiling Springs Area has a lot. We had a hard time too, but lucked out renting from a CG family that was leaving. Could have your husband call the station to see off those moving need someone to rent their place or maybe you can rent what they are renting.

We just left there in Dec (CG as well). Found our first rental on Rudd.com under long term rentals. You can always try calling them and ask if they'll have anything around the time you're going to be there.

You definitely want to try to find a house on Oak Island because of all of the traffic. Try Margaret Rudd they were very helpful in helping us find a place. Call and ask to speak to mark he is in charge of the long term rentals.
