Cheaper dog boarding Does anyone have recommendations for dog boarding/sitting? I'm going to be out of country for 3 weeks Oct/Nov. We have two small dogs (Doxie and...

Dog boarding is expensive. $1000 for two dogs for 3 weeks is a really good deal. That's like $24 per dog per day.

Going rate for dog boarding is probably $30-50 / day so you are already at the low end. I would not trust a place that charged less than $20 per day. Other options might be to find a neighbor willing to take care of your dogs. Or trade dog sitting duties with a friend -- your dogs are small and so should be easier to handle. Make sure they actually spend time with the dog and not just feed/walk them twice a day. In the past, I've actually hired a live in dog sitter. Not that expensive (maybe $50-60/day). Less stressful as your dog gets to stay home.

Find someone, a friend hopefully, you trust enough to dog sit/house sit/check in-feed-walk them at a price you deem reasonable.
