Anybody in St. George know of any good therapists for life after Mormonism? I'm getting to the point where I really need to talk to someone about my disbelief and mental...

I'm also in St. George. I went to a therapist (here in STG) two years ago and as soon as he found out I was Mormon he started talking about the church and that I just needed to find God. I honestly think it would be kind of hard to find an unbiased therapist here in Utah. Inbox me though my man! I'm down to talk of you need anyone to speak to.

[Psychology Today Therapist list](http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php?sid=1399962546.4441_20398&city=Saint+George&county=Washington&state=UT&lmore=26#SC26) for St George gives the option to select religious orientation. I guess you could pick one that's not Mormon? Pay attention to schools though and what they say they treat. The "other religious affiliation" ones sometimess pop up BYU alumni and "pornography addiction" which raise red flags that they're actually Mormons.

I've looked on Psychology Today before. Unfortunately there aren't any listed in the "other" category. I've actually been talking to my bishop for the past 3 months or so and he's really the only person who knows. He's been understanding but in the end he feels like I'm in the wrong and he hopes I'll gain a testimony again.

There are quite a few of us in St. George who don't believe. I wish I could recommend a good therapist but my wife and I have had to be each others. We are in the process of telling some people and it can definitely be a scary depressing time.

I think the majority of the therapists you find in Utah are going to be Mormon, but I don't think all Mormon therapists are going to turn out the way you described. I'm seeing a Mormon therapist who asked if I wanted the church to be any part of my treatment, and when I said no, she really respected that. It's like dating--it's just a matter of finding the right therapist for you. The really worthwhile therapists will not be concerned about making your life better with the church. They just want to make your life better.

If you're willing to Skype, there are some great therapists that specialize in Mormon faith transitions. I saw Jenny Marrow and she was wonderful. http://whitefieldseducational.org/therapists/#T3
