I have tried papaya extract and I have tried chinese medicine and homeopathic medicine. The only thing that seemed to help ( i can't prove it with any disgnostic testing though is tapping). I know you are probably thinking I am a looney tune but I tried every thing under the sun. Since I started this my platelets leveled off they are not in the normal range but I have maintained counts over 100 k since last Nov. My counts yo yo'd before that and steroids were awful and I reacted to IVIG negatively. I can only speak for myself but it is worth a try. I am not getting paid to promote this I am offering it as a reference because it helped me and I know first hand how frustrating ITP and the treatments can be. A great book to read and make you think is Immune System Recovery Plan by functional doctor/immunologist Susan Blum....great insight! I will say I have been artificial sugar (aspartame) and gluten free and have seen a rise in my counts. Check it out and also visit the pdsa website discussion board and look under the thread Natural Treatments...there are some great ideas that will give you encouragement! I believe you will find some hope!

I've been seeing Dr.Fulton. he is an older guy and all he does is give me stretches. They don't really seem to be helping me much. The other day I was in so much pain I was rushed to the ER and they gave me meds to help get me relaxed and comfortable. And it seems like every few months I have this big flair up of pain

Get referred to Toronto...that's where all the specialists are and your current doctor should be able to refer you. They'll probably be at Mount Sinai or Toronto Western.
