If you decide to explore CT further south like Stamford, CT (45 min drive) you must visit one of my favorite restaurants...Aria Restaurant http://ariacuisine.com/. I have closed that place down many nights drinking wine and homemade limoncello with the owner. It's a little slice of heaven!

Best pizza: modern. Best breakfast: the pantry. As for the rest, when I was there Zinc, Tre Scalini, Bentara were my favorites but there seem to be a ton of new places that opened: just yelp it. Oh and CO Jones has a free taco bar and lots of undergrads if that's your thing...

Rent a surrey and ride the Seawall, spend an afternoon/evening on the strand. Olympia Grill on Harborside is good. Spend 30 minutes and see the movie about the 1900 storm. Gives great history of Galveston. If the weather is great, rent surfboards/SUPs and enjoy the beach! Saltgrass Steakhouse is good and pretty reasonable. The Spot is on the Seawall and has good burgers. Visit a local college hangout - Float - it's on the beach too and has great fish tacos! Pleasure Pier. Great shopping at Tanger Mall right up the road. Ride the ferry! You almost always see dolphins!

I agree LInda. If you're looking for good ol' fried seafood, it doesn't get any better than the Black Pearl. It's on the corner of Market and 23 rd. Olympia Grill at Pier 21 is great too. Food and view incredible!
