In Dushu higher education town there is a Zemo Cafe, they might have fair price for such services. Here is their number:89573182 (they speak a bit english)

Or there is another chain company called Parfait (芭菲 in Chinese). They are the supplier for my university canteen, with finger food they are not bad at all and I think it might also be a fair price compared to other proper restaurants. Here is the number:65927890

Whats the best Thai restaurant in Suzhou? I want to try them all so just tell me what you guys think.
Hans B. replied:
Restaurant Chun Thai, in Suzhou is number one !
Valur B. replied:
I've heard the most good things about Chun Thai from expats so that will be the first place i try. I'll also be in thailand this time next month so i can try some authentic Thai food there. Thank you Hans and Geoffrey for sharing your opinions.
Brian S. replied:
Valur….I have been enjoying Thai food since 1975 and have visited 7 times and flying there this afternoon for 8 th vacation visit. We have two new Thai restaurants opening in SIP so we finally have more choices. With all due respect Hans, try The One and then tell me if you still think Chun Thai is better. I used to write restaurant reviews for BestfoodinChina.net and have, at age 71, wide experience with food at all levels of expertise and cost all over the world. I know you will be pleasantly surprised by The One as there honestly is no comparison.
Can anyone recommend good restaurants in Hangzhou?
Justin B. replied:
Angelos Italian is my favorite, Crystal Jade is great guangdong food at xihu. Hangzhou is packed full of great restaurants unlike Suzhou. Check the Morehangzhou magazine.
Second question-good family restaurants in Shanghai, any suggestions please? Mid-price, Chinese or Western. Thank you.
Kaylen M. replied:
There are so so so many. Check out smartshanghai.com & similar websites, then filter by the district you are staying in.

Blue Frog at SWFC was very kid-friendly, and the restaurant a nice, clean Place. Definitely Worth the trip, and we will go back soon. But maybe not very late in the evening, thus it also is a bar..

Mark B. replied:
The Blue Marlin by Xinghai Square do pretty solid burgers.
Lee M. replied:
Hands down. Blue Frog.
Lee M. replied:
Blue Marlin is mediocre and overpriced (for all food). My opinion only.
Patrick S. replied:
After Hours is good. Blue Frog is decent too
Jordan D. replied:
I've heard Birdland has the best, but so far I've been unable to get over there. The new Blue Frog in Suzhou Center also has great burgers!

Michele S. replied:
The Blue Marlin SUCKS! There are much better places to go in the SIP! I haven't been in one in over two years and I plan on keeping it that way!

Mariz Vivares: Actually, I've been to Philippines (and lived in 4 countries on 3 continents - and visited far more). I also study culture and I am a business consultant. I do know what I am talking about and, unlike many, don't make it a habit of going online talking about things I don't. The reason things are different in Phils is because the culture is different. That is true of the native people but then, tell me why so many people in Phils are not impressed by Phils-born Chinese? Philippines also has scores of its own problems. They probably have one of the highest populations of people in the sex trade (so let's not talk about morality and ethics). Maybe you will start to see the picture a little clearer. Here, it is about no overhead and maximum profit. Here, it is about plenty of new customers so no concern for customer service and very short-sighted when it comes to cause and effect (bad service ruining reputation, despite the fact that the Chinese seem to find reputation so important, that is not the case when it comes to money). There is also a horrific problem in the workforce which causes these employee attitudes and is a result of no loyalty between businesses and their staff. This is probably the reason why you rarely see many business survive more than a year or two in China. It is always about money and, sadly, that is exactly what is going to lead to China's inability to maintain their positive economy. A lack of ethics in business...or anywhere else, for that matter, will always result in an experience you would probably rather avoid...which is why those who are blinded by money and profit and who are willing to sacrifice all to attain them will never be successful in the long run. But hey, what do *I* know...I just do this for a living. ;)
Douglas C. replied:
Coral Law: The caveat you receive from me is PRECISELY because I have managed to live (and survive) here for as long as I have. It might be a wise idea to learn from those with more experience, rather than criticizing them. Or, at the very least, get to know them before you make assumptions...
Cathal O. replied:
It is not just Blue Marlin in fairness. Customer service as a whole here in China is appalling. I am a regular in Blue Marlin SIP, and while they have their faults at times I am truly happy going there. I enjoy the banter with the regulars, have made some great friends, get on well with the staff, who all know me by first name. My point is people are too fast and too quick to complain. Rather than praise!

Both Xinghai branch and East Lake branch are proud to show thier Perpetual Sucker Service medal of dishonor!!! You go for thier half the price lunch but if u wont remind youll get charge full. Full for all the bland frozen dishes

hey... try Sushi Boy in Su Hui lu. right behind blue marlin.the best sushi. 120 RMB all u can eat and drink. and yes its in SIP. there's 1000's of japs restrnt in SIP but sushi boy is the best. good luck....
Raoul D. replied:
The Sushi Boy behind the Blue Marlin USED TO be really good. Maybe the management changed or something...the food started going downhill and was just disgusting last time I went there. I suspect the owners may have gotten rid of the expensive sushi chefs and hired an idiot cousin or two. Non-fresh food very ineptly prepared... The Sushi Boy downtown near the Drunken Chef (ugh!) is so-so. But the best Japanese food in town seems to have gravitated to the SND.
Any recommendations for a good Indian restaurant?? Please not Ganesh! The service there really sucks ....

Food was pretty awful, too. I'd also like to know if there's anything better. Lotus Land in Shanghai was authentic and worth a visit. Not Suzhou, I know, but maybe something to look forward on your next visit.
