I'm wanting to get the barrel on an AR-15 cut down so it's right around 16" with...

I had Rainier pin my WARCOMP to a 14.5" barrel and was impressed with their communication, turnaround, and work. I can't speak to barrel cutting and refinishing, but I wouldn't hesitate to send it off to them.

I can't speak to Rainier's gun smithing services but they are a good company. I've order stuff from them for years. Over many dozens of orders I think I had issues with 3. One they called me on shortly after I placed it and said the inventory was wrong on a grip and they didn't have that color. They had it in another so I told them to send me that one. Another the post office lost and they promptly resent it. Third was where they pulled the wrong sight(shipped me a front instead of a rear). Called them and they were fast to fix the issue. They shipped me one the same day with a return label.
Every time their customer service was fast to respond and make the issue right.
I've heard good things about the gunsmiths, just don't have first hand experience.

The thing to ask any FLGS when cutting and rethreading a barrel is "are you pulling the barrel and putting in a lathe?" If the answer is "no", run away at top speed.
