To my takamatsu peeps. Is there a western style cafe where I can get eggs and coffee for brekky?
Matthew W. replied:

I like this little place too. It opens at 5AM and it's close to my place. The owner is a friendly little old lady too d(^ ^ o) エール 〒760-0046 香川県高松市通町1−2 https://goo.gl/maps/GSHwzmDoURA2

Any vegetarians out there? (Other than udon) any suggestions for restaurants or cafes in Takamatsu? Thanks so much

Tsurukame Shokudo is amazing! http://s.tabelog.com/en/kagawa/A3701/A370101/37004781/ Any Indian restaurant will have veggie options, and the Italian restaurants are a good bet, too! Shibayo is lovely, too http://s.tabelog.com/en/kagawa/A3701/A370101/37000170/ There are more, I'll try to look them up...
If you just want to grab something to eat, then you could always go to Freshness Burger. They have a tasty bean burger. It is in the shopping center near the train station.
Goood morning everyone. I was wondering about cheap places to stay in Takamatsu. I looked online and got ridiculous prices. I know that Japanese sites often have...

I'd recommend First Inn, too. It's a men-only capsule hotel, and they have a lowest rate guarantee policy. It's a bit of a walk from downtown, though:'( At regular hotels, it's no problem to bring an extra guest. They'll bring in a cot, and they will charge you a little more but not double the price.
Tetsuya H. replied:
Tamara Thomas, that would be my third home after Amazon. If you can make it to Yashima, go to Kenkoland. You basically get blankets, pillows and find a place to sleep. It's like going to a sleep-over when you were a child. You can make a bean-bag fortress too. cost is like 1,500 - 2,500 yen depending on if you have a coupon, get in after 12:00 am, or want to lounge there earlier in the evening. Plus you get to wear an awesome Aloha outfit.
Matthew W. replied:
You can get a capsule hotel for 3000 ish. Ad if you buy a book of tickets its even cheaper. Found it on this site http://www.goldentime-takamatsu.com/ryoukin.html
Hi Everyone,
I am in IPAL at the moment, and a guy here is asking for recommendations on shops restaurants, barbers etc in Takamatsu who are foreigner friendly (maybe...

Shamrock: higher class whisky bar, owner speaks fluent English Pepurute (might be misspelling that): all Japanese little place (closed for the moment) that's a very welcoming environment with great, inexpensive food El Dorado: mexican-styled food w/ an owner who speaks some English and is very welcoming Round 1: gaming, sports, bowling, funtimes to be had Nicholas, Matthew, Iain, help me out here. If "some Japanese required" places are open too, that're just fun, welcoming spots, I can name izakayas for days.

There is also Kings Yawd: the Jamaican restaurant, and Asian Bagus. Asian Bagus serves amazing Thai food. Also, the Jamaican restaurant's food is not only delicious, but very affordable too. I'd recommend it for people on a budget.

千竹 is a Chinese restaurant off Lion Doori (can't remember exactly where) run by a man from North China. Homely food for good prices, and probably comfort food for people from that region of China. Owner speaks Chinese and Japanese. Sea Dragon is pretty foreigner friendly. Good for parties or walk-ins and centrally located. The Craig is an Irish pub that's really active with Irish culture events. It's down near Takamatsu Station, and they have a little popup stand thing at Takamatsu Chikko Station. I think the owner and main bartender can speak decent or better English.
Two (unrelated, save for the general "food" topic) questions:
Does anyone know where I can get some plain, distilled white vinegar in Tak? All I find is rice vinegar in...

Ting Bu Dong (天胡同) near shotengai Starbucks is nice. Not traditional service (no lazy susans, no carts on the floor), but the food is pretty authentic. The prices are still for Japanese portions though:/ I think the courses are filling but you can order a la carte, too. Lunch is cheaper but you can't order a la carte. Tea is NOT free, which is the antithesis of dim sum, but otherwise it's pretty solid.
Stephen B. replied:
Ooh Sylvain there's a Dim Sum restaurant in the south of Ayagawa! It should be about 25 minutes from your place. I'll try to find the info on it!
