Are there any other dentist phobics on this group who could recommend a dental practice? I haven't been in 20 yrs due to fear and feel it may be time to man-up.
Chris S. replied:
I was the same, and now go to Miss Atkinson at Hesketh Lane. Very good, calm and helped me in overcoming my fears. Explain what worries you and she may be able to help.
June W. replied:

My daughter and I use Oak Dental practice in Ormskirk.. we see Mr. George / Miss Parker both are excellent dentists.. and have definitely helped with our fear of dentists
Stephen S. replied:
Ravert and Ray at Ormskirk Hospital they are amazing I was like you had a serious phobia. My dentist is absolutely amazing never pushes you to far
Andy B. replied:
I wouldn't go to Hesketh Lane - both kids now having to be referred to Orthodontist and I have changed dentist and had to have surgery at Ormskirk hospital 2 weeks ago following refusal to see me for two weeks twice when I developed abscesses and never had a filling last more than 9 months before they came out. Put it this way - my new dentist (Oasis) has recommended I take legal action - just saying !

If anyone wishes to find a dentist that is taking on NHS Patients please look on the NHS choices website for further information. As it states on the site.......Be aware that not all dental practices will have the capacity to take on new NHS patients all the time and you may have to join a waiting list or contact multiple practices before you find a NHS dentist with capacity to accept new patients. You should also be aware that even if you filled in a registration form at your first visit to the practice, so that the dentist can add you to their patient database, that does not mean that you have guaranteed access to a new NHS dental appointment in the future. If the dentist’s quota for NHS patients has been reached by the time you contact the practice you may not be offered an NHS appointment. In that case you can either choose to be seen privately, join a waiting list or look for a different dentist who is taking on new NHS patients.
