There is ALWAYS a choice ! The question is: what are the consequences one is willing to live with/accept? The way you put it, it sounds like sacrificing the son's health is a price worth paying - or one should be willing to pay - for the sake of (keeping a job with) Uncle Sam. Whilst I respect people's choices, I personally would not go down that road (for the sake of my child).
