Been there before. We have moved a lot. We bought a house in a beautiful town in Upstate NY before we lived there first. We gave it a face lift and sold it in 4yrs. You never know how the market will be if you decide it's not your forever home. You can lose big money. The market takes a dump and you are stuck or lose a load of money. We did not lose but barely broke even. The market isn't predictable. It's not like renting where you can change your mind. Right now we are in a seller's market with slim inventory. Our inventory is the strangest I have seen in all of the places we have lived. You can either afford a major fixer or have to spend hefty to get something decent. There isn't much of a medium. Our school ratings are poor. If you don't know better you will buy in one of the lowest rated school assignments and have an F of a time selling. There are so many factors involved.
