Can anyone recommend a good reliable veterinarian with reasonable pricing near the villages
Marilyn E. replied:
Reasonable and good: Northgate Animal Clinic, Fruitland Park, Ngavet.com Low price, access to specialists, UF Vet and 24 hr ER, 50 min. Away. Smallanimal.vethospital.ufl.edu
I like my current vet but too far away. Live in Collier. Any suggestions on vet you consider good in this area? Thanks for your help.
Debbie M. replied:
I love both vets that are at Park Heights Animal Care in Fruitland Park right on 441.

Stay away from Colony Animal. Dr. Steven Drum is the worst vet I have ever used. Rude and greedy I am very happy with Live Oaks in Summerville. It's about 20 minutes away but very caring and kind, worth the trip. For emergencies, after 6 pm, Buffalo Ridge
Jean D. replied:
I went to Live Oak for 9 years. They have really gone downhill. Ended up diagnosing my 2 males with different issues--1 heart 1 kidney. Problem is they had me treating the one with heart problems.for kidney and vice versa. When I didn't see improvement I sought a 2nd opinion with Buffalo Ridge. By that time the one who had the heart problem had incurred so much heart damage, it has shortened his life. Thankfully he has a better quality of life with his medications being correct now. Unfortunately, my little boy who had kidney issues it was too late for him. He passed away from kidney failure about a month after we figured out he was being treated for heart instead of his kidneys. In short, live oak Dr Shearer killed my dog and shortened the life of my other dog drastically. After going to that vet for many satisfying years, I cannot explain why this happened except that I think Dr Shearer is slipping and he should take into consideration his 4 legged patients and he should retire. NOW. If you go to his vet, get a SECOND opinion.

I have lived here 8 years and have FINALLY found THE best vet (have been to many, Buffalo Ridge killed one of our dogs and I know others have had the same experience) Dr. Drum@Colony Vets is absolute the best here!!!! I refer many of my clients to him and they are happy.
John H. replied:
I use Buffalo Ridge. They are on Pinellis plaza and buffalo ridge. Dr Vernon is great.
Sharon S. replied:
Dr. Drum's the worst vet I have ever used in my entire life. My dog died due to his negligence and misdiagnose . Rude and greedy staff. Beware of Colony Animal Hospital! Have been contacted by many other with problems with Dr. Drum and Colony Animal Hospital. Stay away!!!!
Maria M. replied:
We have used Dr. Drum for about 2 years now. We have had excellent service, and anyone can see his love of animals. When our dog is sick, he always gives us options for treatment. I have encountered a rude person only once, and that was on the phone. Her excuse: pregnancy/hormones. Everyone else there is super nice, and very helpful. They have also hired a groomer recently.
