You are right there is no such thing in Durham. Fancy + Durham can't even be placed in the same sentence. Doesn't sound right. But I do have 2 suggestions... In Ajax, off of hwy2 close to Salem, there is a nice Italian restaurant called il fornellos. Heard great feedback from people who have gone. And another is a place called "The Villa" it's right across from the place we got stuck when my battery died (in whitby). It's a japanese restaurant. The sushi is really good but they also have a teppanyaki grill table. $25 a person. Gotta reserve a for that table. Not an extremely fancy place, but good reviews!
