I take classes at Tahoe mountain fitness center! They have a great selection of different yoga classes (and SO MUCH more), and as long as you let the teacher know you are a beginner they are more than happy to adjust different levels for your ability and actually help you with your practice:) Jonathan Van Roo is my favorite yoga instructor, he talks to all the students to see how they are feeling that day, he has great music, and he always makes sure we are having fun and smiling:) and i believe they have some new student deals going on right now too!

I hear good things about the training hosted by Wanderlust studio at Squaw. I myself did my initial 200 hour training at the Sivananda ashram in Grass Valley. At the time, I was looking for a 30-day intensive, and I really benefited from living at the ashram while I was learning. It does not appeal to everyone as it is a very specific kind of yoga class, however, I found immense value in the entire experience, not simply the nuts and bolts of teaching a class. It is not the strongest program for preparing one for the "yoga industry," per se, but it has a solid foundation in the deeper energetic levels of practice, which is what I was searching for at the time.
