So, my car's done for... Is there somewhere out here, or does someone know someone, who would buy parts? I can't afford to fix it, and at 220K miles I'm thinking about...

Cheapest new wheels I can think of in town is a Kymco Agility 125 down at Scoot Over http://www.goscootover.com They also have used scooters for sale on consignment usually. I think this place buys cars: Arizona U-Pull & Save Auto 5602 N Camino De La Tierra Tucson, AZ 85705 (520) 293-2310

A few months back, I was in a car crash, and my lil beater Honda CR-V was wrecked. I was told to search the Googles for local salvage yards and wrecking companies that would give me cash and tow away my car. I got quotes from about a dozen different places and ended up selling it to the highest offer which was DamagedCars.com, by the way, for $750. I'd suggest doing the same thing. Get a bunch of quotes and go with the best one. The whole process took about 2 days. Selling parts, piece by piece, could take a while. If you're looking for quick cash, junk it to the highest bidder.

What kind of car is it? If you're willing to tear it apart yourself and sell parts or it is in a location that you can allow people to come remove parts from it, you could list it on CL for parts and make decent cash and then sell the leftover frame/parts to a scrap yard for a little more. That takes time though and can't be done if you live in an apartment or something. If you need a decently priced vehicle that is fairly reliable, look at Crown Vics. Mine was $4 k and only had 40 k miles on it. If you're willing to take slightly older ones or ones with more miles, you can find them for
