Call Betsy Dmarino at Unionville Small Animal Associates. She does prolotherapy, and alternate to surgery that worked for my pitbull. It was not a complete crucial tear so the prolotherapy was able to rebuild the scar tissue and she recovered from it with no further pain. Definitely worth looking into!! Goodluck!!

Yes, our German Shepherd had TPLO surgery with Dr Tim Schwabe Metropolitan. Not cheap but he did great. It was several years ago. At nine years old now he runs and romps like a puppy. That being said, I'd look into alternative options as well.

It isn't the same but my German shepherded had ACL surgery before Christmas two years ago, he was very overweight. The vet said he would have a hard time healing and if he didn't get the surgery, he would be in pain. He lost some weight after the surgery, and recovered faster than the vet has seen. It was a lot of money but so worth it. He's now almost 7 1/2 years old and he's the same goofy puppy he was when he was 2!! He's able to play frisbee, jump and catch it, go on 5+ mile walks, and enjoy being a dog. It was worth it to see him back to the lovable goob he's always been. I went to Glenmoore vet and they were PERFECT with him. He's a difficult dog, not people or dog friendly, and they were AMAZING. I cannot recommend them enough!

I love Glenmoore! They didnt do the TPLO surgery on my dog because it's a more complicated surgery requiring an orthopedic doctor. I chose that versus the type of surgery that they could do and thought they were so wonderful in that they were honest enough to give me both options even if it meant our business going elsewhere. They made a great recommendation for an orthopedic doc. I totally trust them with all of our fur babies

My La Mancha dog (boxer/beagle/pit mix, 7 yo, 60 lbs) had TPLO CCL surgery in May and she's pretty much back to herself! The recovery was long and hard on everyone, especially her (very active). But she did better than I imagined dealing with being penned up and on a short leash for 12 weeks. to be honest I wasn't sure about the surgery - the cost, the recovery, whether it would work, but I am glad we did it. Now all I worry about is her other knee which seems to be on and off a little lame and that's exactly how her injury started the last time.

Dr May at Warminster veterinary clinic did both of my female husky's knees. She blew first one then the second. She's super active. We tried the conservative route with the first side but she could only be still so much and would undo weeks of inactivity in one sudden burst of crazy, including suddenly jumping straight up, while on a short leash, high enough to look me in the eye. I finally decided that her life was passing her by while we diddled. Dr. may is awesome and his prices are modest as well, comparatively. I was so happy with the left knee but she ate dinner one night, took a couple steps and the right completely went w no warning. We had that one repaired within a few days. She is now allowed to "be a dog again". She runs, plays and wrestles her brother without limitations and has the joy back in her life. She will probably always have some discomfort in them when she overdoes, but who (of a certain age) doesn't? She's 8now. I definitely recommend the surgery but do your due diligence on picking a vet. awe used My Pets Brace in Morgantown for my 13 year old 45 pound Gordon / border mix. It is awesome. He is back taking his walks and walking down steps. They are worth a look!

We had the TPLO surgery for our Great Pyrenees a few years ago. Well worth the price. He's doing great.

It's $40 a month and covers all major medical accidents, injury, diagnostics, treatments, etc. if you would like more info...text me! Also, Ben blew his other ACL during recovery. I feel it's more common in bigger dogs. If you're diligent with Kali's recovery (which I know you will be) she should be ok:)

Take a look at "My Pet's Brace" in Morgantown PA. If you are looking for alternative to surgery. I was able to rehab my Rottie with the brace and used the rehab exercises for both legs, so no damage to the other leg in the process.

Forgot to mention: right now they are recommending the tight rope surgery to be performed by Dr. Tromagle at Glenmoore. They feel with her size and age and the extent of the damage the TPLO is not warranted, especially with the increased risk of complications and infection associated with that method. We have a lot to think about... THANK YOU all again for everything!

A whole lot cheaper than surgery, and a whole lot less invasive. I've encountered several people who have used this place, are quite happy. I had a big Husky who went through 2 ACL surgeries in the late nineties (I don't know if bracing was an option, or if my vet just wasn't onboard with it - this was before the days where one could get a lot of advice on the internet). I wish I had had the brace option available, the surgery was expensive and so difficult for him psychologically.

My shepherd had TPLO surgery 4 years ago. It never healed correctly, required additional surgery, still needs a 3 rd surgery. In October he tore the stifle joint in his other leg. No way would i put him ( or me) through the surgery again. We had a brace made by " My Pet's Brace" in Morgantown. Now he is walking almost perfectly. Much better option. Please look into it before you rush into surgery!

Our beagle, Chester (15 yrs old), had 5 teeth removed two years ago. Our vet did it. Dr Francella in Coatesville.

All our dogs see Dr Spancake Lenape Veterinary Clinic. (Love him) One of our older dogs had her teeth cleaned and 2 extractions back in Dec. Cost was $235. Not including medicine. Think the amoxicillin was under $10.

Slippery Elm is the best stuff thereis for it and what holistic vets use. No pepto bismal and no immodium. Do not use white rice either it just converts to sugar which makes diarrhea worse.

My grandmother's dachshund needed a dental and many teeth had to be pulled. The vet quoted her $800. I told her to go to Providence Animal Center in Media, PA. The fee there is $200 regardless of how many teeth need to be pulled or how much medication the dog needs after. My grandmother's dog ended up having 9 teeth pulled and she hasn't had any issues post op. I know Providence is a decent ways away from New Holland but I'm sure there is another low cost clinic that would do the dental for $200.

Dr Michael Spancake at Lenape Veterinary (outside of West Chester), is excellent and also very reasonable. I just had my Lab there for cleaning under anesthesia and two extractions.

WC vet had us leave our dog overnight for an upset stomach... $1,500 bill later, itemized down to $40 for a "courtesy call" so I don't recommend them. Dr.Kidd at pocopson station has been great for our dogs though!

The SPCA clinic in Malvern does dental work and they are very cheap. I use Dr. Beach and I love him and he is reasonable priced as well. Just my experience but I'm not a fan of Dr. Latta office. There is always a huge wait with a lot of other dogs and her exams are minimal at best (she doesn't even weigh during exams unless you ask). Just my thoights

I used to take my pets to Dr. John Farhy in Springfield. I was obviously not mature enough to evaluate the skill of a medical professional because all I can remember is that he was really cute. That's why I'm so grateful for all of your recommendations. I have made an appointment for Ziva next Saturday. We're going to see the vet in Malvern. Ziva can be a little shy and I really hope she likes him. She definitely will not like him looking in her mouth. She won't even let me do that.

We have bunnies seen at Penn Animal Hospital. It's a one vet practice, and I have every confidence that Dr. Beck is NOT "treatment happy." She is exceedingly ethical and kind and seems to understand that people have financial limitations, unlike many vets.

Would they set up a payment plan for her? There's also Care Credit that she can apply for to help finance it. Her vet should know about it. My dog needs it too and I'm trying to think how/when. It's so costly but it can lengthen their lives!

CCSPCA (now called the Brandywine Valley SPCA) is a good suggestion. They have an Animal Health Center in Malvern with a variety of discount packages for cats and dogs. Kelly Stigall-Jones since you live in Willow Street, I highly recommend Lancaster Pet Pantry. Earlier this year I spent $500 at my vet investigating a URI issue with my cat. Vet said procedure would cost about $1500, plus I would have to pay Pet ER overnight charges because my vet doesn't keep animals overnight. They referred me to Lancaster Pet Pantry because they have a program that helps pets. My cat had the procedure done there and spent four nights in their care, and it cost me $275. Definitely talk to them first!
