I stayed here http://www.rechastel.com/ at La Breole during a trip to watch the Tour this year - it's a holiday centre but you seem to be able to camp too. Situated in a great place - lots of routes, and only around 10 miles from Gap, which was beautiful. If you stay at the centre there's a bike room, they do packed lunches, and have lots of activities for children. Stephane also speaks great English. If you PM me I can email you the routes we did.

We drove to Le Grand Bornand from Zeebrugge - got the Hull ferry, arrived in Zeebrugge at 9 am, drove all day and arrived at the campsite about 6 pm

Also stayed in Samoens, at the bottom of the Col de Joux Plane at Camping Le Giffre (hired a chalet but there are also caravans): http://www.camping-samoens.com/
