Jeremy Goodwin... now you have my attention... train ride to a great restaurant!!! Tell me more! I love that idea. Can you tell me where two of the best ones are that I can do the 1 st class train ride... I think that would be a home run (shhh!!!) for the wifey on our anniversary!
Jeremy G. replied:
Randy Lemmon There are so many choices. You could go to places like Canterbury Cathedral and Canterbury has some exceptional places to eat, or down to Dungeness (of crab fame) where you can see France and the White Cliffs of Dover and then dine at The Green Owl, or even better, just dine on the Orient Express http://www.belmond.com/british-pullman-train/fine-dining-london

Sorry, right company, wrong link. http://www.belmond.com/venice-simplon-orient-express/journeys
Randy L. replied:
Hey Jeremy Goodwin, is there any way I can contact you today or tomorrow before I leave??? If so, please send an email to me with your cell number here to randy@ktrh.com
Jeremy G. replied:
I have a value/quality ratio, and in London the cost is often too high. You can buy a first class train ticket to somewhere with a great restaurant and still save money. Even getting out to the edges like Greenwich, which is worth a visit anyway, can get you something like: http://mogulindian.co.uk/
Stay AWAY from the main tourist zones. That is crap food and service. Look for piazza santa margherita and rhe surroundings to have decent pizza, pasta, grilled fish and spritz and somewhat reasonable prices. Always check if there is a cover charge (coperto) and a service charge. If not explicitly mentioned, ask. If they say no and still charge you that keep the bill and show it to the "guardia di finanza".

Looking to book a hotel room in Venice, Italy....any suggestions on neighborhoods, hotels, restaurants and things to do while we are there? Thanks!!!

Kristine G. replied:
Unless you only want hotels, try looking for a vacation rental on vrbo.com. Used it in Hawaii, and it was way cheaper but just as good, if not better, than a hotel.
Dominic A. replied:
I was just in Venice a few days ago. Check out hotels.com for some really good deals. I stayed in Hotel Citta Milano (or something like that). I'll check and send you a message later. Regardless of the name, it was great value for the price I paid per night.

Wonderful memories, would ride our bikes up gravel Vollmer rd or through the field that would be Praire State and to Touch to see the black light back room and then you could get a hamburger, fries and a drink at McD for under a dollar, just got done with a book entitled" The Boys of Chicago Heights"
Juliana G. replied:
Betti Kline Goldberg....I also remember that place at the triangle of Halsted and Park! ! Can't remember the name of it but I remember them having some really cool clothing and also being a Head shop. Thats the place I used to buy that Indian House Money Blessing "air freshener "..then they started selling it at Kmart! ! lolololol
Julie O. replied:
It was the Head Shop. I don't know why the name changed, but then it was Touch.
Peter G. replied:
I think, officially, it was originally "The Head Shop Boutique"
Toby P. replied:
Touch, definitely. The manager was in a Drama class with me at Prairie State (I can see his face but can't remember his name - handsome handsome guy, too!) and those of us in Drama were invited to some "very tasty parties" by this guy at a place some guys rented off-campus affectionately called "The Farm." After so many of those parties there, I am amazed I can remember ANYTHING!! ;)
Bill K. replied:
Shelley Salinski was the owners name. Very nice guy. He was my art teacher at Bloom. I have also been to "the farm" Toby Gershon Padgett. Are you talking about Jimmy or Michael?
Recommendations for good restaurants in Venice Italy, anyone?
Romi S. replied:
Antico Forno - a tiny, hole in the wall pizzeria. Easy to miss but look for it. AMAZING pizza. Ai Mercanti - a really nice, more upscale restaurant. Close to Piazza San Marco
Nahum D. replied:
I ate in a very nice place called Da Luca e Fred, a not so expensive osteria, but please do not come during the "rush hours"...
Does anyone know where i can either buy great Ravioli or a restaurant that has a great Ravioli dish?? I had an AMAZING Ravioli dish in Venice and I've been craving!...
