3 points: 1. Build up your own knowledge on this issue; as you DO have rights. In CA, you have a TON of rights with regards to Tenants Rights. CA is a tenant friendly state. 2. http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/states/california/renting/tenantrights 3. Most cities/attorneys will offer a free consultation. If you do your research before meeting, you will be able to maximize your time with the attorney.
