I have several HVAC repair guys as friends. Almost all said that duct-cleaning was a recently added, money-making feature they were told to offer by their bosses. They say it's rarely if ever needed and often results in damaging the interior linings of older flexible ducts. The thing you should worry about keeping clean is the actual cooling or heat/pump coil. Any decent HVAC company will check it and clean it if necessary during a service call. GL
