Does anyone have experience with a Pediatric ENT for hearing loss. I have recommendations for Morristown Otolaryngology (part of SMG) and Associates in Otolaryngology...

Daryl..dr LeBenger is not working as much as he used too bc he is now CEO of the group. Since she already had hearing loss she needs to see a doc who specialized in ears..Abby Feman Stacey the fm system is a good suggestion!
Kim D. replied:
Jed Kwartler is Dr Lebengers partner and he would refer to him for this issue
Daniel S. replied:
I know Jed Kwartler, he is great
Dawn D. replied:
I recommend Brian McClintock in Hillsborough - pediatric audiology - he helped diagnose my son's hearing loss

Here is Nancy's link for AV Therapy. I can not stress the importance of it enough. Learning to use your residual hearing, learning to break out words from background noise...OMG, her therapy was instrumental in my son's success. http://www.speech-partners.com/new-jersey-speech-therapist.htm

Dr. Worden in flemimgton . He is great

My son went to both SSS and LD, both fantastic! Processing is a whole new ballgame once aids are introduced. Nancy Schumann in Somerville specializes in AV Therapy. Sometimes even with a mild loss, it's more a processing issue than hearing. My son has an individual FM system, it allows him to hear his teacher's voice as if they were right next to him, blocking out background noise. Nice to see there are others in the area

I have been going to SMG my entire life for hearing please try dr Le Benger in ear nose & throat

Nancy Schumann has get togethers for the kids, you do not need to be a patient of hers to attend. Great fun for the kids and the parents hang out and get to know each other. Filomena Carusone Citarella my son was mainstreamed to Basking Ridge, I was fortunate to have a great CM, and being a strong advocate helped as well. Have you ducks in order, dig your feet in, you know the drill. He's now in Jr. High with the best TOD and a fantastic group of teachers. Before Jr. High he was allowed to use a spare room off the cafeteria so he could sit with a few friends and have lunch in a quieter environment, auditory breaks throughout his day to run an errand to the office, etc gave him a few min of quiet and extensions on hw when he was too tired after school to complete them. RR was given, but not for academic reasons, so don't let the schools tell you he doesn't "need it", it was for auditory purposes. He missed MANY days during his 1 st year of mainstreaming due to auditory fatigue, be prepared for that if you return to town. Carpet, aud panels on the walls, etc help a great deal. Long post, hopeful for those who are considering mainstream will bring it up at the IEP

My son is HOH, Dr. Janjua in Bminster was fantastic with him as a baby, and I especially liked how he included my son in the visits now that he's a teen. Greatest bedside manner.
Filomena C. replied:
DO NOT go to Beecher! He completely missed my son's sever-to- profound bi-lateral hearing loss; that's nearly completely deaf in both ears. I liked him too, until....Yes, he is an old timer and used tuning fork to determine my son could hear. NOT! Depending your child's age, he/she may need a special test to diagnose the exact hearing loss. If they are old enough to talk & read a little, I'd recommend an Audiologist. I know 2 really good ones. One works at Summit Speech School in New Providence and does not take insurance. The other is Brian McClintock, Somerset HSP & Hillsborough offices. If you want more information on them let me know. You can message me and I'll be happy to talk to you by phone.

My daughter is partially deaf-we go to West Orange. Dr. Laura Downey is the ENT and Amy Pento for audiology. They are both great-we
Barbara C. replied:
Jed Kwartler,MD on Morris Ave. I think it's a Union address. Took care of my daughter many years ago and I believe he does cochlear implant and other surgeries for hearing loss.
