As difficult as it is to find a doctor to treat IC, it seems impossible to find a dr. To treat a child with it. My daughter is 11 and has been suffering for a year now....
Mary H. replied:
I believe we have a member or two with children with this horrible disorder in the #icstrong support group if you need a closed, active, and compassionate place to come and be with others who understand. The link is Www.facebook.com/groups/icstrong
Maggie R. replied:
Take her to doctor Muriel Boreham in Plano Texas.. After years of pain we sat at a desk for hours to figure out a game plan. She is the best urogynocologist in Texas!!
Bridgett D. replied:
Erin im so sorry to hear this. Its horrible for us adults so i can only imagine how much this hurts your daughter. Please try desert harvest aloe. It really does help. I take 3 capsules in the am and 3 in the pm. There are no side affects at all and its all natural. As for treatment take her to a urogynecologist. Even though she is young, they will treat her, especially given her age her flares may be onset by hormones/puberty. Good luck to you! https://www.desertharvest.com/shop-new/Super-Strength-Aloe/
Mary Y. replied:
Erin I see Dr Paul Kahn in Plantation, FL. Dr Villacona (not sure if that's the chief spelling) also shares the office. One of them is a pediatric urologist, but I'm not sure which one. I had gone to several doctors overt the past 6 years who dismissed my symptoms. Dr Kahn is the first one who actually listened and treated me. I 100% recommend him
Nana K. replied:
My Urologist is not a Pediatric Urologist but very knowledgeable about IC. I don't know where you live in Florida but he works at Memorial West Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Fl. He is an excellent and very compassionate Doctor. His name is Harvey Samowitz . He has been my Urologist for 6 years now and I had a Urologist in Cape Coral, Fl for 13 years, already retired but there are more Urologist in his group who is very knowledgeable about IC. I remember one of the doctor's last name is Rizo. The name of the group is SW Florida Urologic Associates. Give them a call and maybe they can refer you to a Pediatric Urologist. So sorry to hear that your daughter has this horrible disease! I'm praying for your daughter and hope she gets a break from pain.

Anita M. replied:
Meredith Somerset at Faulkner Animal Hospital. She's fantastic.
Kristen B. replied:
Lara Suttle, Dr. Odom recently left and is practicing in the Raleigh area. We like Dr. Curtsinger and Dr. Miller, but just really loved Dr. Odum. The staff at Curtsinger is fantastic and the only place we have taken our dogs - they have just gotten so expensive. I feel like I can't get out of there for less than $200.
Kristen B. replied:
Thank you for all the recommendations - we saw Dr. Faulkner today and were very, very pleased. He diagnosed something that should have been found years ago. Level II consult, X-Rays and 2 weeks worth of meds for $130. Much more reasonable, and so far, I felt like it was an excellent level of care.

Can anyone suggest a migraine specialist (not just a neurologist) in the Charlotte area? Willing to travel if it's a doctor familiar with hemiplegic migraines.
Jim B. replied:
Vanessa O'Neal Ward I SENT YOU A PM ...
Sandi Y. replied:
First of all, Vanessa, let me say I'm sorry that u r having migraines. It's a terrible, terrible, thing to have to deal with. I have been going to The Headache Clinic, Mecklenburg Neuro with Dr. Kenneth Askin. He gave me my life back. And if u would like to try another route, I go frequently to a REAL Chinese Foot Refexologist. There have been times when I was sick and in bed for 2 or 3 days and could not even stand up. My husband literally would carry me to the car and inside to see Dr. Joe. In with him For about 20 minutes, and I was able to walk out and go eat!!! I'll b happy to give u both numbers. Hope u really find someone good. #migrainessuck!
Shelton K. replied:
Vanessa O'Neal Ward - as a psychologist and someone who has the ability to address or suggest an overall approach to wellness which includes holistic remedies as complimentary therapies - I would encourage you to look at recent research and data which includes a wide variety of success in piercing the tragus of the ear for migraine relief (Daith Piercing). In most cases it works very well in assisting in the restoration of quality of life for migraine sufferers. https://drupalsites.purchase.edu/journalism/index.php?q=node/49
Shelton K. replied:
Another holistic approach with proven results is to use essential oils as in aromatherapy. Here is more information on that topic... http://www.livestrong.com/article/153183-essential-oils-migraines/
Vanessa W. replied:
He has been to a neurologist, chiropractor, physical therapy, acupuncture therapy...now being referred to pain therapy. I left a message at Dr. Sara Sacco's office today. She was listed on several websites geared toward hemiplegic migraines. I hope she can help! Thanks for the referrals!
I dont know where else to ask this, I'm looking for a holistic type doctor. One who will prescribe meds when needed, but won't give you a pill for every ailment or...
Michelle F. replied:
Mine isn't holistic, and probably far from you but has been a life saver ( literally) he listens to you and will work with you and your comfort level. But he's in Belmont. It's LandMark Md if you want to check it out, or message me for more info.
Michele P. replied:
Dr. Cushing..Holistic Dr. Of Charlotte
Laura H. replied:
http://www.holisticcharlotte.com dr. Boyle is amazing. Really cares ab your wellness. But they don't prescribe medication just herbal supplements and what not. But they get to the ROOT of the problem rather than treating the symptoms with meds and then treating the symptoms of the meds they give you like the conventional medical industry. Downside is insurance won't cover doctors like this because "a patient cured is a patient lost "

Eric B. replied:
I like Dr Faulkner himself, or Dr Glenn. I trust all the Dr's there though, been using Faulkners 11 years now.
Lisa P. replied:
One year I went to Dr. Faulkner's so often Jennifer and Stephanie started calling me. Between Abscesses, colds, and wheat in a dogs eye, they would try to do their best to keep cost down. Dr. Glenn offered to look at a chicken for me when I was having a problem with sour crop, never did take a chicken in though.
Kristen B. replied:
Thanks Lisa Pickens. We met with Dr Faulkner and were very pleased!

Our older schnauzer needs a new local vet. She has immediate needs for a tooth extraction. Can anyone recommend a good Veterinary doctor in Waxhaw?
Laura M. replied:
Providence South or Waxhaw Animal Hospital
Judy S. replied:
I use Sun Valley Animal Hospital, left the vet in Waxhaw years ago. My two older dogs have multiple health issues, and Sun Valley provides excellent and affordable care.
Myka J. replied:
Waxhaw Animal Hospital has free dental exams. If you call and set up an appointment a tech and Dr will come in and look at your dogs teeth and they will give you an estimated price for the procedure.
Patrice B. replied:
Monroe Animal Hospital. Very competant and reasonable.
Leslie A. replied:
Shop around. Tooth extraction can be very pricey. Please understand that your pup is a senior and will need blood work and if need be fluids for the procedure. This will be the standard for the 'modern vet practice.' If price is an issue then I will encourage you to find a local small town vet, I.E. Ft Mill Animal Clinic or perhaps Fort Lawn A.C. older and both established practices and quite capable of handling the extraction and cleaning.
