No. It's a legitimate phase to hire people like the guy who was hired to work with me on the Broadmoor Hotel. He has driven trucks, worked in oil fields but ended up learning how to install limestone fireplaces working at around $15/hr and eventually becoming the project mgr. he was found by just advertising for Help Wanted on Craigslist. The hiring person talked with him briefly by phone and followed with a short face-to-face interview. All worked out quite well.
