Anyone know of a photographer who is just starting off or maybe looking to build their portfolio? Under $800 is the budget.

Justin Miller,to a large degree, you are correct. The problem, inherent, with DJs is very few have any sort of business acumen; they fail to understand that there is an actual COST just for walking out the door (I have written about this-check out my blog.) They do not understand this concept to such a degree that they are LOSING money every time they work. Which means they do not even value themselves as a talent. To expand: If they do not value themselves as a talent, they will not value their clients. When there is no value, the clients do not value us in return. They see us as just another commodity, someone to just show up and "press play." The reality is we do SO much more than that (again, check out my blog- I've written about this, too.) Of course, this misconception is only furthered by so-called "wedding experts" and publications and blogs (the Knot is the WORST) who tell brides to only "shop for music" and try to tell them that they can DJ their weddings themselves. I could go on, but I believe I have derailed this thread enough. And I must apologize for doing so.

The best piece of advise I can give on this post is this. Value your Wedding Day Photography. It's really the only thing you will have to look back at and remember things. Don't book a photographer based on the cheapest price or the best deal you can find. Pick a photographer based on what style you like or are the pictures quality work etc. If you want someone bad enough and they are over your "budget" you will make it work! Just some food for thought
