Can anyone recommend a good dance school for my 2 year old daughter?
Maria C. replied:
I highly recommend Steps Alive. My daughters both began with Steffanie at age 3. She is a compassionate, caring person who is more to her students than their dance teacher. She takes a personal interest in each one and gives them the confidence they so desperately need...especially in their teenage years! She provides a warm, safe and nurturing environment...whether your child is a preschooler or teenager! I highly recommend Steps Alive...Steffanie and her entire staff are great people!

Garden City Dance Studio. Nassau Blvd. in Garden City South. Amazing school and teachers!! My daughter is 8 and has been going since she was 4 and loves it. She is on the dance team now. My other daughter will be 3 in a few weeks and she started there in Sept and also loves it. I highly recommend them!!! 292-9453

The creative movement class is for 2 year olds and they dance at the recital which is at Westbury Music Fair. So adorable and the teachers are wonderful with them. Patient and caring. Garden City Dance Studio all the way.

We have close friends who know the owners of Broadway Bound. Super professional and caring teachers. 3 year old classes are not run by "kids". They are very well known. Caring and prices are comparable. Check out their website. Starting my daughter for a great summer program. Pay as you go. No punishment if on vacation, or they can't go etc.
Christy Q. replied:
Steps Alive has a creative movement class for when they are 2 and a half. When they are 3, they start the pre-ballet/tap classes. The recital is at Westbury music fair and she always has the creative movement girls go first so they can go right back to their parents to watch the rest of the show with them.

My daughter is now 9, but she started at age 3 when moved here. In our experience, we have nothing but good things to say about Steps Alive. Miss Steffanie has become a strong and positive role model for my daughter and I am very grateful for that. I completely agree with Kathleen Cammarota-Evangelista in saying that Miss Steffanie becomes a trusted friend for them to have.

My daughter who is 28 started dancing with Stephanie when she was 3. When she opened up her own studio we followed her to Steps Alive. Was she a star dancer? No. But she danced until she was 16 and had a great time. She learned self confidence and it was great excerise . I put my 12 year old in Steps Alive 4 years ago because she is not going to be a star dancer either but needed the excercise too. She loves it and has never felt that she was't good enough to be there. She actually is very graceful ( she does ballet and tap) The other dance schools in the area are much more serious and competitive. I have never had a issue at steps alive. Stephanie, Gretchen. Ms Terry, Ms. Colleen and Ms. Lauren have always treated us with respect. Every child is evolving. You must find the right fit with the teacher. Good luck. My daughter doesn't want to leave Steps Alive for a long time.

Steps Alive on Dogwood. My 2 1/2 year old goes Friday mornings at 10 am. They also have a class on Saturday's and Tuesday's for that age group.

My daughter turned 2 in late August and started Steps Alive in September, however she has a 5 year old sister in the same dance school. Call Steps Alive and speak to them or stop by with your daughter and ask them about it. 10 am Tues & 10 am Fri & 9:45 Sat are the Creative Movement classes for 2-3 year olds. Also, the recital is in June so I am not sure if it is too late to start with a dance studio at this point in the year.
