Could anyone recommend a good fee-based financial planner? My mother needs help with retirement planning

Just so you know, a financial planner is an insurance salesperson. If it's financial advice you are after you need to see a financial adviser.

Probably best to go to the bank. Always looking out for the best result for their customers.

There was a short scathing report on "The Checkout" on ABC regarding financial planners. Try to find it on ABC Iview (or equivalent). It certainly suggested not using bank affiliated planners, it also gave the idea that good financial planning with out bias may cost upwards of $3000 per year. Having said all that, I cannot help with your question but wish you good luck.

EBM Insurance Brokers have a financial planning department. They're also WA based if that means anything to you.

We use a place called Smith Wealth. Very open about any trailing commissions etc (actually they get deducted from what we pay)
