Ok dance & fitness friends (esp. mommies and daddies): Some of you know that my little 4-year old likes to dance... umm, a lot! He also happens to be a natural monkey...

I really like this studio. They have a venue at the multnomah arts center in SW portland (about 10 miles from Tualatin. http://www.echotheaterpdx.org/dojump/winter-2014/ They might be a bit far for you. I've had really great experiences with this studio's adult classes, and they have extensive experience with kids. Acrobatics classes sometimes have a bit of a different angle on things than gymnastics. I know quite a few of the teachers, and they're all really great.

Hi Tami. You should check out Moxie Dance Theatre. MDT's a brand new Professional Dance Studio that just opened up in West Linn. It doesn't take long to get there from Tualatin. The Artistic Director, Gina Candland has performed on Broadway & trained dancers that have gone on to work professionally as well. MDT's currently registering for dance classes that start January 27 th 2014. They offer Creative Movement for your son's age which includes Indoor Open Play time. Indoor Open Play time is for parents to bring their children to play in the large dance studio (Open 6 days a week) which has a sprung dance floor, gymnastics mats, a balance beam, ball pit, soft climbers and more! The kids LOVE it! www.MoxieDanceTheatre.com

What about Westside Dance & Gymnastics Academy in Tigard? I know they've had a fabulous program for years...
I'm looking for a preschool for my newly diagnosed son, he'll be 4 late August. Suggestions on specific places or what to look for? It's all new to us, we need advice!

first of course, check out SPD Connect (on FB and online) for local recs. Then really really talk to whomever you will be pursuing OT with to understand S's sensory profile/needs and find someone who understands and is willing to make accommodations for them.....NOT every preschool will be a good fit at all, and the teacher/teachers are key to his experience.....we can chat more in person, over coffee etc if you'd like....my schedule is pretty flexible during thr weekdays:) ~deb
