I use Century Sea rods for my comp casting. Best distance I have hit is 720 ft or 218 mtrs with the 150 gram. I can cast over 660 ft or 200 mtrs with all 4 comp weights (100 g, 125 g, 150 g and 175 g)

Over 125 yds on a 1087 is very good distance. I have never competition casted, but fish Seb Inlet 250 plus days a yr and payed attention to my form alot last year. Took a 9ft Liberty blank to the testing field and fence is measured off at 110 yds. Couldn't get an accurate measurement because was throwing 2oz over the fence into the trees. Know I can cast my 1087 fsc further with 2-3oz than the liberty. I throw 3oz diamond jigs alot and from an high elevated position with good backwind am pretty sure have come close/probably exceeded 150 yds using a freshly spooled Stella with 300 yds and using the spool marks to measure. If you are ground level and getting 125yds then you can probably outcast 90% of hardcore fisherman

Tommy Farmer you gotta get with Mike Basnite and host an event down this way in Florida. I thought I casted pretty good until I watch Mike at the inlet.

If I remember correctly, my first tourney rod came from Mike, my Zippy SST-XL (the one that had the 125 gr OTG National Record until Tony stood up with his 800'+ ground cast.). I really liked that rod. I sold it to Big Lou, then had remorse, bought it back a year later, then much later sold it to Troy.
