Upstairs at the Cavalier in Chicopee, Alcoa Catering. Have been to events there, very reasonable. Also try Club One in Feeding Hills.

Southwick VFW. Tons of kitchen space to use and outdoors but pavilion in case it rains. Strathmore Park nice outside setup but not as much cooking space if you need it. Also, the Italian Club in Westfield has outdoor area, used to be pretty cheap. But not that big.

Ok.... More: go to salem.org. There's cool venues like the House of Seven Gables, Old Town Hall and the Peabody Essex Museum. I don't know the cost of them but might be worth a look - I know you guys love Salem!

Misty, I've looked into Hammond; our wedding is going to be next Halloween, which is a Saturday, which means lots of money Gillette is no bueno, too, it's a state park now, and as such, they don't allow alcohol on premises Pami, I emailed Seven Gables last week, but they're out of our budget, plus they said Halloweens are practically impossible to have weddings because the whole town goes nuts on Halloween hahaha. I don't remember if I've looked into the Peabody Essex yet, I'll check, though! I've seriously sent out at least 20-30 requests in the past two weeks hahaha! What we're really looking for is a place that doesn't force you to use one of their caterers (because even if the venue is relatively inexpensive, the catering is still $50-70/plate; with a tentative guest list of around 50, that's no good). We would love to rent an old factory because we could decorate it and make it look all cool, and it would go well with our wedding theme, since we're doing a steampunk/masquerade style. Also, aunty Clara, I would love to do a destination wedding, but there are people I want at the wedding who just wouldn't be able to make the trip

Random, I think not..just last night I was taken to a place by a friend because he wanted to show me where he goes when he wants to feel magical and peaceful, we end up at The Wherehouse, pretty sure I tagged it on my page. Check it out, the last time I was there was for a friends wedding, and it was spooky, which Im pretty sure cuz youre like me, is exactly what you want, spooky and beautiful

Key word was "affordable" ! Shaker Farms is nice but very pricey!

Westfield Women's club, Bliss Farm in Granville, Black Birch Winery in Southampton, Mill 1 in Holyoke Are all great for beautiful weddings. Country clubs are $$$ and offer crappy food & substandard decor.

I got married and had my reception at Shaker Farms. It was very reasonable and they did a great job.

Depending when it is you should check out Bliss Farms in Granville- big barn, apple orchards, fire pit, and lots of beautiful land. They just did major upgrades as well. http://www.blissfarmevents.com/

Carriage House in Forest Park. Reasonably priced, though you have to bring in your own caterer. So you could control those costs as well.

Bliss Farm is beautiful and the owner is such a nice guy, he will bend over backwards to accommodate your needs!
