I highly recommend Dr. Zaman of Pioneer Valley Respiratory Associates. Their office is just inside the main entrance at Cooley Dickinson hospital in Northampton. I live in Westfield and I wouldn't want to go to anyone else or see anyone else for my chronic pulmonary issues; she has helped me tremendously. And she is so darned nice to top it off. Dr. Zaman is smart, young and up to date. She's also Chief of Medicine at Cooley Dickinson and is highly respected there. Seeing her as my pulmonologist is well worth the 30 minute drive to Northampton.

Some smaller companies tell their employees to "use MassHealth", because if the company put in for health insurance for a very small number of people the cost would be astronomical. Some employers have no full-time employees at all, everyone is PT, so, no health insurance, they all go through MassHealth. There's a lot of reasons why someone might have to get their care through Masshealth. Masshealth uses Health New England, Tufts, and a couple other pretty good insurance vendors for care, but keeps the consumer costs low, because the "group" is huge.

Most urgent cares are open 8-8. But Med Express by the shops is where I've gone and they were good there.

I would suggest you go to Noble Hospital ER as soon as possible. The flu is very serious, especially if you may have Pneumonia.

Baystate Noble ED should be open 24 hours, if you are really sick and need to be checked sooner than urgent care!

I use Noble Express Care of course they are closed now.

You need to go to the emergency room not an urgent care. If it’s bad enough you will be admitted. Go to either Noble hospital or Baystate Hospital.

Dr Peskin at PAHC in Westfield. He is very patient, listens to all of our concerns carefully, always spends a long time at each visit, and we never feel rushed. He also has two relatively young children, so I feel like he has recent experiences with going through what we're going through!

I had an initial visit with Dr. Torio today after not having a doctor for almost a year. It was only a first visit, but I liked him and I'm not a fan of doctors or hospitals.

Not unusual to wait 2 months for a new patient appointment unless there is an urgent concern. There is a shortage of primary care physicians in this area and the ones available have had numerous patients added to their practice. For lab work you can always go to Noble, Mercy or Baystate outpatient lab. Just get a requisition from the office or they can send it to the hospital electronically. As of a month or two ago Riverbend was not accepting new adult medicine clients.

Go on your insurance's website and see which local doctors accept your insurance. I currently go to Noble Express on Union St and it's been a decent experience so far
