Best barber shop in town? In Wichita all week for work (love the city!) but in desperate need of a hair cut. Where is the best barber shop?
I’ve got too many...

DeVille’s Barber Shop. They are over at Meridian and Douglas. Been going there for a couple years now and am so glad I made the change to them.

I like going to Eric Fisher Academy, because you'll always be guaranteed that an expert stylist will oversee your cut, even though a student is doing half of the work.

I know you literally said you don't want Great Clips, but I've honestly had the great experiences at the Great Clips at 37 th and Woodlawn.

A fellow Virginian! Welcome. Riverside Barber Shop is fabulous. Cano is great and I was really worried that he wasn't going to make it through the pandemic. It's a little farther from College Hill - it might be a 10 minute drive.

Andrew at Fox & Ash is awesome. It's super close to the college hill area.
1shotslinger replied:
Caleb or Andrew at Fox & Ash at Revolutsia will be the best cut in town. They’re also a super safe shop, where there’s only one client and barber at a time, you both wear masks and the station and seat is sprayed with Barbicide after every patron.

https://www.theplazabarbers.com/ 4 miles east of Wichita in a city called Andover. Legit men’s shop, shave and beard svc as well. Good luck!

Haskins Barber Shop on central and rock has been my go-to for almost a decade. Great guys over there and they do good work
DeltaRipper replied:
Village Barber Shop! Gone there for years and have never had a complaint, they are a wonderful group.
flibbert1 replied:
Well, you’ll be pleased to know you’re going to paying considerably less.
There are great barber shops all over the city. I’ve been to two, depending on where I was living (primarily East and Northeast).
Plaza Barbers in Andover is good. I always had a difficult time getting a spot back when I was going there, but that was pre-covid and it was walk-in. I assume now it’s all appt based so it may be better now for scheduling purposes.
I now go to a single barber, Razor Smooth Barber at Central and Greenwich. She does a great job. I’m bald with a beard and go twice a month for a straight shave and beard lineup.
https://www.vagaro.com/razorsmoothbarber
I also take all four of my kids there for haircuts. I also have buddies that go there for a full head shave. I pay $15 for my beard, haircuts are $22, all pre-tip.
She’s appt based as well. I schedule all of mine about a month in advance.
Good luck.
baalroo replied:
**Prime Time** is a good barbershop that seems similar to where you've been going. It's clean and nice, the barbers are young and talented, it's reasonably priced, and they accept walk-ins. **Riverside** is amazing, but he is strictly appointment only and you've got to book *months* in advance, which makes it considerably less appealing.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a good beard barber? I used to go to Pete's on Elston, but now I live out in the Northwest burbs and haven't found a good spot out...

Here's a few suggestions: https://www.reddit.com/r/chicago/comments/27 t9 wx/looking_for_a_barberstylist_who_knows_their_way/ Also, /r/ChicagoSuburbs might be a good place to ask, too.
I know it's not very close, but Rudy's in Des Plaines has been great with my beard, trim/shape/full on hot towel shave, you name it. You gotta call and make an appt though

Edison at Village Barber is good and it’s less than $20. Can’t help on the massage part.

Tristen Pike, Franklin’s Barbershop on Hillside off of Douglas. Best fade I’ve ever received.

Recommend a good beard barber? I saw a post from about a year back but there weren't any real suggestions beside Irving Jacks which is really expensive just for a beard...
awkward_giraffes replied:
Idk about beards specifically, but DeVille's in old town had a good old fashioned vibe to it and they're pretty cheap. They've done a good job every time I've got my hair cut there. Irving Jack's is outrageously expensive and I'm pretty sure they hire girls that are pretty over being able to give a decent men's cut.
sixwingedseraphim replied:
I highly recommend Valerie at The Men's Cut at Hillcrest Plaza. Men's cuts are $16 ($14 if you make an appointment or if you check-in in Facebook). Beard cleanup/trim is only $5 and she is very skilled and personable - best place to go in Wichita!
higger_nair replied:
[Riverside Barber Shop](http://www.riversidebarbershop.com) Nothing but 5 star reviews for a reason. You gotta make an appointment though, usually.

Go see Fish or Reo at A Lil Off the Top. They fade my brother's beard and it looks great. Cheap. Less grumpy than some other popular places.
