Just to let you all know my mom, Ruth Murray Saurer will be 92 on Valentines Day and lives in Fla during the winter and at Whispering Hills in the summer with her 95 year old friend, Ed. Can't wait to share your comments with her.
Judy B. replied:
My earlier comment disappeared. The Murrays were such nice people when they owned it. Mrs. Murray made the best apple dumplings.
Janell T. replied:
I remember well as I grew up in there. Used to sleep on top the big freezer while mom and dad closed up each night. Spilled two cho milkshakes in Glen Clouses car when I was a car-hop at age 5, and made thousands of apple dumplings. Thanks for sharing the photo and memories.....Janell Murray.
Patti E. replied:
They had THE BEST apple dumplings....EVER. Loved Mrs. Murray.
Jani J. replied:
Went there a lot. Had a big yellow cat that loved to ride in the back window of the car. Would make a "to go" order for the family at the side window and Mr. Murray usually included a hot dog without the bun for the cat. Wonderful people!!

Ah … such fond memories of Westwood Restaurant, the Murray family and the apple dumplings! With my dad, we had lunch there every day on the stools at the counter during the summers when I worked at my dad’s business during HS/college (71-77). The counter waitress would only take my order as she knew what my dad wanted. For dessert, I had always had the apple dumpling with soft ice cream. My dad (Bill) ate lunch there almost every day for many more years. Janell Thomas, delighted to hear your mom (Ruth) is 92 … please give her our best. You know your dad (Wayne) built my mom & dad’s house on Shreve Road in 1952. And, Patti Krajcik, had forgotten the Murrays built Whispering Hills … fond memories also of summers in Wooster.
