Also remember you have your local NI to pay out of those wages as an employed or self-employed person too. Only then are you covered for health care etc. And it is the law that you should be paying NI and registered for VAT (even if exempt status) It is easy to register once in Gozo via the Social Security and Tax Offices at the Ministry for Gozo. I just paid my NI contribution today (as a self-employed artist/metalworker) and it is not based on earnings but a flat rate: 517 euros from May-August. Works out at Euro 28.73 per week if you earn something that week or not. You pay three times a year. Just so you are prepared:) Soul/Jazz funk night sounds great!
