I'm looking for a new primary care physician in the Portland area; anyone have a doc they like?
Tim T. replied:
Chris, we all go to Dr. Sarah Alvarez at Fore River family practice. She has been great for us. Great Doc given all my military Doc experiences. I don't like using drugs for the pain of my old, active body and she has never brought them up. Just very thorough on testing. I have needed a few ultrasounds and MRI's. That Fore River Mercy complex is very easy and they get you right in for whatever is needed and I have needed a lot with hockey, baseball and hurling.
Luis R. replied:
Chris, I've been going to Dr. Jim Harper, at Martin's Point for over 15 years and have had an exceptional time with him. Even when we were living about 40 minutes away, I refused to change for a doctor that was closer to us. Excellent bedside manners, easy to talk to, and meticulous about keeping notes. We were talking a couple of weeks ago and he brought up something that was over a decade old and I had practically forgotten.
Casey J. replied:
how about Dr. Ballzoff? I think he's russian.
Tom R. replied:
Stephen Katz at the newer Mercy offshoot that's over by Hannaford - back bay. Forget what its called. Pretty easy office, always good with times. He's good about not over- prescribing which was my main priority. Plus it's related to Mercy where all good Catholics should go. I loathe anything Maine Med.
Dave C. replied:
I use Dr. Steve Martin Yarmouth he is no nonsense really listens .......
