We love Dr. Brooks. He shares a practice with Dr. Branham, who I've also heard great things about.

Not sure if Dr. Brooks is accepting new patience or not but we love him. I've heard Dr. Branham (shares a practice with Brooks) is great too.

Dr Ron Barnes has a relatively new practice in Forsyth. He and his staff are amazing. Bonus: I've never waited more than 15 minutes for an appointment. We had Brooks previously and were wanting to make a change.

Last I heard SIU clinic at dmh was accepting for family practice.
Who is the best local Family Doctor in the Decatur area?

I absolutely love Dr Costerisan at Mt Zion Family Care center. His smile and kindness put you at ease immediately. And I feel like he takes the time to listen and address the whole issue, not just the symptom.

I am searching for a pediatrician for my 6-month old son that accepts the medical card, I currently take him to SIU Family Practice but I don't know how well I like it...
Decatur M. replied:
Hey Miranda, we posted this question the last week of August. The top results are posted on our Mom's Choice Page. http://decaturilmoms.com/?page_id=1694 ... Also CHIC Clinic, Chic and Macon County Health Department and Mt. Zion Family Care all accept the Medical Card as well.
Miranda T. replied:
If the Resinol doesn't work I'll have to try that, I'm going to call around different doctor offices tomorrow and see who is accepting new patients that can get Memphis in soon. He still needs his 6-month shots, but he's been stuffy and it doesn't help that he's cutting his first tooth. Do you know if Dr. Konda is accepting new patients?
Beth W. replied:
Dr. Brooks and Braham in D town Katlin has their number. Dr. Brooks is a male and Dr. Braham is a female. That's who we take Katlin's little one to and their really good. The office is byDMH.
Emily R. replied:
We take our baby to Dr. Brahnam. Saw her today for his 4 month visit. We really like her and she takes the medical card.
Miranda T. replied:
I thought about taking my son to Dr. Brahnam, but I thought maybe when he was older he'd like a male doctor, lol. I have heard a lot of great things about her though! It's so difficult to find a doctor, I'm tired of the doctors at the SIU Family Practice .. they seem to guess what is wrong with you then look into the case.

Do any of you have any recommendations for a family doctor. When dr miller left we started with one and are not satisfied. We got very spoiled with dr miller
Doug E. replied:
Dr. Miller from Forsyth left??
Shannon B. replied:
Oh we did too.... I grew up with Dr. Miller... We used to walk to school together everyday...LOL....When he started his practice and we switched to him - I had one thing to say to him... "You didn't see my body before and you aren't seeing it now"....
I'm looking for a new family doctor. Any suggestions??

Kim S. replied:
Bear in mind that medication is only addressing symptoms not the underlying issue. Medication and therapy together give a much better chance of long term coping.
Kim L. replied:
I understand the expense, but a therapist (counselor, not psych) may help. Eventually she may not even need the meds. Behavioral therapy can teach her ways to keep calm and handle stress more effectively.

My dr retired also and i started seeing a new DMH family dr for my anxiety /adrenaline issues, HOWEVER, he refuses to give me Lorazepam, which I have been on 8 years. Not everyone has an underlying issue. I take opiods and have for 6 years, I would think prescribing a simple "benzo" wouldn't be an issue!
