Hi everyone - My family is moving to Webster from out of state this summer and I'm looking for a preschool for my 3 year old this fall. Any recommendations are welcome!!

My boys went to Kids First for preschool during the school year and then did preschool camp at the Bayview Y in the summers. They are still at the Y for camp, which has a really high return rate for counselors.
Lisa S. replied:
I guess it partly depends on what your needs are as others have said. Also note, the Webster Universal Pre-K program is for 4 year olds. We sent my daughter somewhere privately at 3 and then to the UPK (we got in via lottery system) for her 4 yr old year. Mrs. Sero (who presently has the UPK classroom at Plank North Elementary) was FANTASTIC. Welcome!
Lea G. replied:

I think it depends on what your wrap around care needs are and the philosophy of the school you are looking for. PVNS and PUMPS are fabulous. I try to avoid the daycare/preschool programs. I tend to see stronger programs in stand alone preschools. Wood side is good if looking for a co-op. Rochester Christian is good if looking for a religious/moral/social program
Lisa P. replied:
Contact the Webster Public Schools and ask for a preschool application for UPK. They admit by a lottery system. It's a free program, so you would still pay for the wrap around daycare hours at whatever preschool you are assigned. Many daycares in Webster have UPK classes as well as their own pre k program. UPK is universal and the same no matter where you go, but the other pre k's, even if they're in the same building, can choose their curriculum. My children went to Doodle Bugs for daycare. They are hands down the best in town, IMO, but for daycare. They are also great if your child is in UPK, but I cannot recommend their regular preschool program. My son was in no way prepared for kindergarten after attending there, where there were 3 and 4 year olds in the same class. If you are an at home mom, check out some of the other programs in town.

We did a year at the Ymca and a year at Kids First. They were both great
Any suggestions for preschool, at a reasonable price??
Jenni M. replied:
Boces teens for tots program in Fairport is amazing. Mrs. Daniele has been my sons preschool teacher for two years now. Last year I paid for preschool because my sons birthday was a month shy of age requirement. This year I chose to keep him there with her and the students over free preschool because we love her so much. I feel complete confidence in my sons educational, psychological & emotional environment when he is there. I wish she could just home school him forever.

My daughter is 3. And will be four in June.... I’m looking for a Daycare with a legit preschool. My daughter would go to plank north and I’m looking for a daycare...
Kristi C. replied:
Apply for UPK at Doodlebugs. It’s amazing. You won’t be eligible for the bus until kindergarten but I think that is what you were hinting at anyhow. 2/3 of our kids had Miss Heather in the UPK room and she is the most amazing pre-school teacher there is. Look into it ASAP though because it is a lottery and there is a deadline which hopefully you didn’t already miss
