  I used Bill Coble out of Rhode Island. He has surveyed boat's for friends and has a great reputation. The cost is about 20.00/ft, report back within a week if I remember correctly. He's very thorough and gives a very detailed survey. I think with most (I could be wrong) you have to have someone who specializes in engines to have that thoroughly checked. I've listed his web page in which you can download a example survey for viewing. He will survey from RI to Boston and further for a fair charge. I'd use him again in a heartbeat! Good Luck!
