Can anyone advise...thanks for reading.Dave N. replied:Hi, I am a Gas Safe Registered engineer and install boilers for a living. It is NOT legal for non-GSR to work on gas fittings. This is clearly stated in the Gas Safe Installation and Use Regs 1997. The fact he would have had to disconnect the old boiler from the gas supply or even simply break the combustion seal on the old boiler to remove it, straight away makes it illegal work. The ONLY thing you can and MUST do, if speak to the Gas Safe Register and explain what is going on - the Landlord is also culpable for his part in this, in that he is trying to bypass the law to save a few pounds, using unskilled and unsafe labourers to do the job of a trained, qualified, and competent registered engineer. Not only is he putting your life at risk, but also risks heavy fines, and possibly also custodial sentences - it is THAT serious.
