They associated the pain of the amputations with the litter box, because although they tried not to put weight on the damaged part of their toes, the litterbox was the one place they had to use their paws. Every single one ended up using soft material like beds to potty in because it didn't hurt as much as the litter. Every one but one was either euthanized, tossed outdoors, or given away. That kitty uses shredded newspaper as litter. Most vets and rescues will show you how to trim their nails. One lady I knew would load up her kitties every couple of weeks and get a tax deduction for contributing to a rescue and they would trim her kitty's nails. Lol We just get those scratching posts that look like sticks covered in sisal rope and stand them up in the corner NY each set of couches in the living room and the family room. That works beautifully. Try looking on Straydar. Someone usually posts a link to a low cost place for immunizations and microchips. Altered tails is great and the only place I know that picks up and delivers from and to your door for spays and neuters. Have fun with your wonderful new furry family members! :)
