  Hi folks. So, after 12 years my fiance and I have set a date. :D Now I need your help. We want a small, intimate wedding and I think we have a venue (either in Somerset West or Stellenbosch). We don't really want an expensive wedding, mainly because we want a kick-a*s honeymoon. ;) So these are the services I need advice on (please only recommend people you have had personal experience with): 1) PHOTOGRAPHER: I hate having my photo taken, so the photographer is my one "grudge" purchase for this wedding. I really don't want to spend R6-R10k on this. I understand why photographers charge what they do; they work hard and for hours on end. I'm not disputing the fact the the price is often justified, I just don't want to spend that kind of money if I don't have to. Does anyone know of a photography student who wants to build up there portfolio or something? *holding thumbs* 2) DJ: One thing that has irritated me is that DJs offer their services at R1500 (example) for functions or birthday parties but up that to R3000-R4000 for a wedding. Having said that, great music and personality are really important to us, so please recommend a great DJ that isn't just out to rip a couple off. 3) CAKE: Again, I don't really want to spend R3-R5k on a cake no one is probably going to eat (unless it tastes like heaven on a fork ;)), and I don't want a stock-standard marzipan cake either. Any really creative, funky bakers out there that you can recommend? 4) LAWN GAMES: Anyone know where I can hire lawn games like giant chess, giant jenga, boules, etc? 5) WEDDING FAVOURS: I'm looking for creative ideas for wedding favours. I have a few ideas, but it couldn't hurt to have more. I hope I don't sound like too much of a cheapskate, but I really want to spend the money on the little things that are important to both of us, not just the "traditional" wedding stuff.
